IMPRESSION

In order to construct various types of dental appliances, like partials or dentures, it is necessary for the dentist to copy or emulate the patient's mouth. The process, also required for some diagnostic reasons, is referred to as creating a dental impression. An elastic material is used to make a "negative" of the mouth. This negative or mold will be filled with plaster or dental stone.
