| DEVELOPING POSITIVE ATTITUDES TOWARDS
TREATMENT |
Many people put off dental treatment over
fear. The fear may well be the result of one
or more negative experiences, perhaps as a
child. But today, modern dentists have
studied and trained in new techniques,
invested in high-tech equipment and they
continue to exert very positive attitudes
towards their patients. They adopt a very
patient-friendly approach in which dialogue
and communication are highly regarded and
encouraged. Modern dentists will take the
time to get to know you and to listen to
you. Discuss your fears or apprehensions.
Tell the dentist what would make you feel
more comfortable. We think you'll find that
over the years, the dental profession's
patient-friendly approach has vastly
improved and the improvement is
proportionately related to the scientific
improvements in dental care and treatment.
It's so important to your well being to seek
regular dental care. Without it, chronically
infected gums and teeth would eventually
plague you, affecting your medical status.
The ability to chew and therefore digest
could become seriously compromised. In time,
the lack of healthy gums and teeth could
affect your speech, breath and smile, and
overall, your sense of self confidence. This
rippling effect would soon build contentious
limitations to both your social and career
or business worlds.
Finally, once you have made that appointment
and received dental treatment, remember that
regardless of how well your dental
procedures were accomplished, no treatment
will endure the test of time or survive its
full potential if not taken care of. Proper
cleaning and hygiene can not be over stated.
This is the patient's first and most
important factor in preserving dental
health. Secondly, if not just as important,
is the fact that regular check-ups are
paramount in maintaining, healthy, strong
teeth. Like maintaining a car or house, it's
much easier to catch a problem in its early
stages and repair the damage. It avoids
further and increased breakdown, and costly
procedures.
