Dental Misfortune and Neglect

Cracked and fractured teeth
Occasionally, healthy teeth will crack or fracture, even under normal chewing loads. If the cracked tooth is diagnosed and treated prior to complete fracture, the treatment is simple: partial or full crown coverage.

If the fracture involves the centre of the tooth, more involved treatment is indicated and will usually prevent tooth loss. However, it is generally advised that patients avoid crushing ice and extremely hard foods to help prevent cracks and fractures.
